HAPPY REBELS FESTIVAL 2024

House of HR Hosts Second Successful Edition of Its Own Music Festival for All Employees

Kortrijk, September 9, 2024 – Last weekend, Thor Park in Genk (BE) set the stage for the second edition of the Happy Rebels festival, organized by HR services group House of HR. It was one of the largest team-building events held in the Benelux, bringing together more than 3,000 employees from over 50 subsidiary companies, from Spain to Poland. With this festival, the Belgium-based House of HR once again highlighted the power of the group as a European organization, creating an unforgettable experience for all employees to thank them for the great work they accomplish every day.

Power of the Group

The Happy Rebels festival is one of the largest team-building events held in the Benelux. After the first edition in 2022 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, it was quickly decided to organize the event again. This time, Thor Park in Genk (BE), with its central location, served as the perfect meeting point. The lineup featured a mix of national and international star artists, with the highlight being Swedish Loreen, known as a two-time Eurovision Song Contest winner. Between the music performances, there were also brief corporate moments for the various House of HR subsidiaries.

Rika Coppens, CEO of House of HR, said: “What’s special about this festival is that it was created together with all our subsidiaries. By pooling our strengths, we can offer our people an experience that no single subsidiary could achieve alone. This is the power of our group: through collaboration, we create impact. This festival exceeded our wildest dreams, and it was all made possible thanks to our own Happy Rebels. We are also very grateful for the warm welcome from the City of Genk and Thor Park.”

The festival featured three stages, one of which was hidden underground in an old mining tunnel. House of HR also built a large camping village around the festival grounds, with festihuts and campers to welcome colleagues from France, Germany, Spain, Poland, and beyond.

Experiencing Culture and Values, Strengthening Connections

House of HR operates with a decentralized structure, allowing its more than 50 subsidiaries to fully focus on their niches. The festival is an ideal opportunity to enhance connections between employees across different companies.

Rika Coppens added: “This past weekend, we were able to experience our Happy Rebel culture for two days and truly let loose together. Our people work incredibly hard to achieve our ambitions. Showing our gratitude by spoiling them a bit is a small gesture in return. We certainly admit that the 'work hard, play hard' principle suits us well. Last weekend, everyone could relax, meet new people, and enjoy a party. Together, we created memories we’ll never forget. It’s also our best employer branding – for us, it’s all about experience in everything we do: from welcoming new candidates and employees to continuous learning, career promotion, and yes, also celebrating together.”

Commitment to Sustainability

In organizing the event, great care was taken to implement sustainability measures: reusable cups for catering, Belgian ingredients from local producers, and sustainable packaging. House of HR is aware that the energy consumption of such an event is significant, so various measures were also taken in this regard.

“We focus on recycling and handle food waste very carefully. Everything we have left over in terms of food is donated to local charities or food banks. Together with our event partner Sylvester Events from Haacht (BE), we carefully looked at how to make the festival as sustainable as possible. The festival was also preceded by a fundraising event in Genk, where we raised €7,800 for our non-profit organization JobRoad, helping people with a greater distance from the labor market find a job. After all, that’s what we do every day: we change lives,” said Victoria Hemelaer, CMO at House of HR.
